Rant thread sorta.
Basically this quote says that, Abridged series` and fan work is good, and helps Anime. Also backed up with some Wiki quotes.
No way! Well i`ve been able to access YT from Google for a while. That`s awful, there`s actully a point on Wiki about fan stuff;
Qoute:
Due to the modern definition of fan fiction as derivative works, there are many legal issues involved with fan fiction, most prominently (but not exclusively) arising under United States copyright law.[22]
Technically, Fanfiction is illegal because it is a derivative work, and therefore, a copyright violation.[23] However, several prominent authors have given their blessings to fanfiction, notably J.K. Rowling. Rowling said she was "flattered" that people wanted to write their own stories based on her characters.[24] However, Anne Rice has consistently and aggressively prevented fan fiction based on any of her characters (mostly those from her famous Interview with the Vampire and its sequels in The Vampire Chronicles) or other elements in her books, and she formally requested that FanFiction.Net remove stories featuring her characters.[25]
Major sites such as fanfiction.net claim fair use, since Section 107 of the Copyright Act allows for fair use claims of copyrighted material. According to their interpretation of the law, fanfiction may legally fall under "fair use" because it is the "productive addition of creative labor" to copyrighted materials. Additionally, it does not act as a substitute to the original copyrighted work, because the author does not profit from fanfiction. This interpretation is not supported by traditional interpretations of the relevant statutes.
I belive it says there that since the company earns nothing, it`s allowed. But addmitly that`s Fan-fiction, not fandubbing and abridged series`.
I think companies should allow them. Having watched an abridged series people may find it funny, and then watch the official anime, also the makers have to watch it, meaning the anime gets more views. Perhaps a law just saying the videos should have been bought properly and not just downloaded free with no permission would be okay, but i think fan work is in company`s interests. I saw a fan picture of a character from the anime Shugo Chara, no way i would have heard of it or watched it if i did`nt see that.
Alright my head is sleepy, but i`ll try to make clear and good points.
Does anyone know an Anime channel? I think there`s one on my Tv reception, but when i saw it (just flicking by) it was all fuzzy. But in all fairness, how many of us here have watched from the telly box at home? I have`nt. Maybe Pokemon, Beyblades, Digimon, all 4kids stuff though, and as many of us will agree, 4kids is the destroyer of Anime.
So if you want to watch good, subbed anime, what do ya do? Youtube of course! Yeah well, even that is going it seems. YT is on a mission to take it down *cry* Well unless the uploader has rights and stuff. Which is fair enough, the creators and actors deserve their pay. (unless it`s REALLY bad ) There are many points we can make as to why anime and abridged series` and such like, should`nt be taken down.
Sadly though, all these points are defeated by one thing;
and I not going to argue that the law is important, and that those videos should have permissions. Maybe is the companies uploaded them their selves?(that will be the day)
So what`s your view? If they said, "Why should we not take down these videos?" And said that, if our points were good enough, they may companisant the companies and let them stay, what would be your reply?

Most abridged series are done by fans correct? I liked the Yugioh one the best. One of my friends did his own abridged series on how naruto should have ended. THAT was funny. Unfortunately, ever since google bought out youtube, they've been deleting all that kind of stuff because they don't have permission from the original series creators to have this kind of stuff on there.

- Culture.
Anime tells us Japanese culture. We see some of the things they do. Taking shoes off when entering a home. Their politeness (which could also teach us to be polite) and so on. Effects of this. This makes people more open minded to what others are like. We are less likey to disimcrate agaisnt others for their culturlar differences, if we are open minded, and willing to accept their views. Anime helps with this, i belive. - Education
I for one have learned a few words of japanese through Anime. Good Morning, Okay, simple things. But i could say, that it has also made me wish to learn japanese. Again, helps with open mindedness. So anime is also educational. We also learn thier landmarks, how the city of Tokyo is organised, and other features or Japan. I`d very much like to visit Japan. This also would help with bringing tourists to Japan. I`m sure there are many Anime and Manga fans who travel there to see the sites, and collect the manga. - Advertisement.
This is more so directed at fan work.
Through fan work we are drawn to watch the anime. It also makes people more creative and find their hidden talents. Now days people are resorting less and less to art. We rather read magazines (as pointed out in one dA news artical) But with anime, people may wish to draw Characters, this makes them more creative, in that they must learn how to draw. Some skills are being lost, Anime can help preserve these. With Fan-dubbing and Abridged series` people must learn how to make their voices be good enough, and be creative to write those scripts. - Friendship.
People make friends with Anime. This forum would`nt exist if Anime was`nt around. And if many people could not view it easily (like on YT) then there would`nt be enough people to make these forums. Many of us may ask, "what kind of anime do you watch?" and then get into a discussions on it, and make friends. In today`s culture we are saying, "People need to talk more to each other. There is`nt enough communication" Through making friends, we can communicate. - Laughter.
One of my weakest points.
Laughter can actually make you better from illness (or at least help. I belive God does, but that`s for another thread) Anime and Manga is pretty funny. Those funny overly expressive eyes and expressions. It`s good for making you happy.
Sadly though, all these points are defeated by one thing;
The Law.
and I not going to argue that the law is important, and that those videos should have permissions. Maybe is the companies uploaded them their selves?(that will be the day)
