Near was killed.
The members of the SPK and the Task Force are all dead.
Kira has won.

Light Yagami's secret is safe, guarded closely by the only one he sees fit to be by his side. Teru Mikami. Mikami assists Light in killing criminals. No one stands in the way of Kira now. One by one more countries begin to accept Kira, and refuse to oppose him any longer.
It has been a year since the incident at Yellow Box. Light is now the head of the NPA, and Japan is on the verge of being one of the last countries to accept Kira entirely. Light regrets nothing as he takes care of his mother and sister, watching as the world forms to fit his own ideals.
Yet in the shadows, a force begins to oppose Kira. What was once a small group of skeptics has begun to blossom. Yet another task force is forming, right under Light's nose. He was not made aware of it, but a new force has risen to bring Kira to justice. This enemy goes by one letter.

Recently, Light has become aware of a group protesting Kira. Part of him wishes to kill them, but another knows that there will always be adversity. He has made it his priority to find the head of this anti-Kira front and kill him. Cut off the snake's head, and the rest of the body dies with it.
The battle has begun. Whose side are you on?
