Angels and demons and humans, oh, my!
The world of Revolution Cross exists in our own world, nearly forty years in the future.
For twenty years, the war raged. Angels and demons fought in broad daylight with little regard for human loss. The fighting was brutal and massively destructive, and those who survived the preliminary attacks had no choice but to crawl into the depths of the earth.
The words theology and demonology took on new meaning. Theology became the study of hunting and killing demons with weapons known as "holy relics," whilst demonology evolved into the study of hunting and killing angels with enhanced weapons made from a hellborn substance known as dark matter. By the time the war above ended in a bloody stalemate, the land was almost totally ruined, but belonged to the humans once again.
Or did it? Creatures from both sides of the war remained after its official end. They continue to fight, to enslave, and to conquer. The humans who slipped out of their underground shelter continue to resist, but theologists and demonologists are both in high demand and difficult to find.
